Serving the Lord

In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 19 year old young men are encouraged to serve a full-time mission (21 year old young women can; if they choose, also serve a mission) . These missions are 24 months in length (18 months for young women) an are funded by the missionary themself or with help from his/her parents. It is a wonderful time for growth and learning. A missionary spends his/her entire time serving others and teaching the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. As an ambassador for the Lord a missionary is endowed with power and authority to teach and testify. A missionary learns more in the course of his/her mission than they ever could anywhere else. A mission teaches life skills, and prepares a young man/woman for life in the real world. Families who support missionaries in the field are equally blessed.
